I directed three five-second bumpers for the 2006 Winter Olympics and one for the Grammies. We edited them together here with some music. This was my first time directing our CG team at Wildbrain.

Figuring out what you can fit into five seconds is challenging, especially when two of those seconds must be dedicated to showing the brand name. I animated these roughly in Flash to figure out the camera work and timing. See an example below.

One fun element of these spots was seeing how far we could push the toon shading on the characters. We also used cards to make the backgrounds since our schedule was too tight for any extra modeling.


This is a bumper that aired during the World Cup, broken down into concept art, animatic, and final animation. Kudos to animator Chris Hammond and lighter Derek Flood for bringing my concepts to life!
